Windows 7 RC installation problems with WHSConnector RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can't get WIN7 RC unit to load install of WHS Connector.
I have opened all port listed for Firewall. (Using OS Firewall and disabled F_Secure)
Set inbound and outbound rules for all ports. Feel its a "subnet" setting issue, but Win7 RC Firewall does not show that option like Vista.
I go to the server from client to the setup file and run it as administrator. I get to the logon window and login.
At this point I get a error window and can get no further. "Operation cannot be completed at this time".
    Tried everything to this point.

Did you try copying the install file to your client and installing it from there?  Did you try completely disabling the firewall on your client?  What other apps do you have installed on your client?  Do you have another client available (so you could try to install the Connector software on that one as well)?

  • WHS works on my other client fine.
Side note, after closing the error message dialog box a loading window acts like it is installing (Green indicator bar) completes and auto closes.
    Yes to turning off firewalls.
No, but will try to copy from the "Softtware" share of the WHS. I do have network access from this unit.
    Followup:
I did attempt to load from copied installer, but the same thing happened.
One thing I did try to check communication with server is clicking "Password Hint".
I received a error window saying check to see server is on and running.
This tells me that server is not communicating with the installation software.

Did you try completely uninstalling F-Secure (then rebooting your client afterwards)?  Are you able to ping your server both by name and by IP address from that client?  Can you run ipconfig /all on both client and server and post the results here?

    Yes to remove F-Secure...no change.
    Was there anything else?

On a side note: Windows Home Server Connector does show it is installed and the icon for system tray is visible.

It is grayed out and if I right click I can launch available commands. However, when I try to launch the consloe I get the same errors.

Errors to check that the server is on etc.
