I assume that you provided payment information online at http://onecare.live.com to create a subscription and then downloaded the trial and are now trying to activate, as opposed to installing the trial and subscribing from within OneCare.

If so, I suspect that you created a subscription under a different LiveID than the one you are trying to activate with, or there was a problem server side when you subscribed.

I recommend that you contact support by email (select the trial user option) explaining the details of the problem.

  • It may take a day or so for your subscription status to update.

  • I activated the subscription but the status still says that I have 75 days active on it and it will end. Please subscribe - but I already did...

  • Open One Care, select the "Subscribe" button and when prompted to enter a Live ID enter the Live ID and password used to purchase your subscription. Your subscription should be recognized and One Care should activate.

  • I have tried that numerous times and it keeps telling me I have no subscription. Hence my first post. I paid for it so why does it keep telling me this. Isn't there a phone number i can call?

  • Rob, go to billing - https://billing.microsoft.com/home.aspx sign in with  the Live ID used to subscribe and verify your subscription.

  • Thanks Jim, but when i do that I get this

    No billing accounts

This Windows Live ID does not currently have a billing relationship with Microsoft. MSN offers a variety of services that you may subscribe to. For more information, go to http://join.msn.com/.

So that's not working either. For some reason the system doesn't seem to agree that I paid for a sub.

If your subscription is correctly shown at the Billing site, but incorrect in OneCare, please contact support.

Had you successfully entered the key at any time or did it immediately return the error that it was a duplicate?

If you managed to create a subscription, but OneCare didn't activate, then trying to enter the key again will return an error. Please review the text below and contact support for help.

When you activate OneCare to start your subscription, it first requires you to sign in with a LiveID and then provides the opportunity to enter a retail key or purchase online. Once you've completed the entry and submission of the key and payment information, your subscription is created and the subscription credentials are downloaded back to your copy of OneCare. These credentials are refreshed periodically, too. If something is blocking the receipt of the credentials, activation is not complete and your PC will remain in trial mode. Make sure that there are no other security programs running, including Parental Controls, which should be disabled at activation. Other security programs - firewalls, real time spyware protection and anti-virus need to be completely removed in order to use OneCare.

If your subscription to OneCare shows as still trial mode after purchase and activation in OneCare

    • Verify that you have a clear Internet connection - no other security programs running.
    • Check your PC date and time.
    • Check your subscription status by logging in with your subscription LiveID at http://billing.microsoft.com
    • Confirm that this is the same LiveID shown to be the Subscription ID in OneCare - Help/About...

If your subscription is correctly shown at the Billing site, but incorrect in OneCare and your PC date and time are correct, please contact support.

If you created a subscription by purchasing online, not within OneCare, then the LiveID you used to make the purchase is the LiveID you must use to subscribe/activate from within OneCare.

    • Check your subscription status by logging in with your subscription LiveID at http://billing.microsoft.com
    • Use that LiveID to activate the installed trial copy by clicking the link to Subscribe and logging in.

If the above fails, please contact support for help:
