Discrepancies between resources in web and visual studio environments RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am building an system in visual studio linked to CRM. In visual studio under the solution explorer for my package I can add web resources. In the web environment I can add web resources. No problem with that so I can add for example a Javascript file to my package in visual studio and it will appear as a Javascript file in the web resources when I deploy the solution. So why are the list of resource types different in the two environments?

    The lists are

    Web Visual studio
    Web page HTML page
    Style sheet (CSS) Style sheet
    Script JScript
    Data XML
    Style sheet (XSL) XSLT
    ICO format Icon
    Plugin registration

OK The silverlight stuff will appear as a separate app in the package, similarly plugin registration appears as a file set in the package but what about the JPG etc files. Isn't the implication that I can add such resources through the web interface and use them but that they are not in my copy in studio. So if I copy my project from studio to another system it will not be a complete image of my project.
