Windows Home Server Console Unresponsive after addin installation RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm using an HP MediaSmart EX 490 and have recently encountered a problem where after installing an add in I get the notice that the console will close and the instruction to reopen it.  Any subsequent attempts to connect to the console, however, result in a blank screen.  I can still access shares both within the network and via remote access, but I cannot get to the console itself. The only solution I've found to date is to RDP directly into the server and reboot, but I'd certainly like to find a better solution.  Any suggestions?

  • Hi,

It's probably a problem with one of the Add-Ins you have installed.  I would remove the last few Add-Ins you installed and see if that cures the problem.

Also in the drop down box below the password entry when you open the Windows Home Server Console - there is an option to "Reset console" - give that a try.
