Microsoft Office 2007 Fraud

Question
-
We purchased a very, very authentic looking Microsoft Office 2007 product that appears to be a fraud. Through the validation process at Microsoft, it has been deemed invalid. There is a process by which we can report the fraud and receive a replacement disc since ours is a holographic copy. Our concern is that if we report the fraud, someone could trace the report back to us personally. How does the reporting process work and can we trust that we will indeed receive a replacement disc?Wednesday, January 27, 2010 3:15 PM

Hello Lisaof MIH,
Please follow these instructions:
In order to receive the best support, we request all users initially download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click the "Continue" button, click the "Copy" button, then paste the report into your post.
When you complete the report to Microsoft, Microsoft's privacy policies that apply to the report will be clearly presented to you. After reviewing these policies, at that time you can make the decision about what is more important to you in your situation, either the value of receiving the replacement product, or, the value of keeping rather than losing whatever level of privacy is lost by submitting the report.
There is also mention of Microsoft's policies in the FAQ that pertains to the Office Genuine Offer here: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/FAQ.aspx?displaylang=en#ID0EKNAC
You may also want to review the Microsoft online privacy statement here:

If the online Genuine Advantage utilities and the OGA Notifier identify that you have counterfeit software, and you follow the instructions shown to you, then the chances of having your submission rejected should be very, very slim. However, there is no absolute guarantee that, when you send in what could be counterfeit software, Microsoft's cryptography labs will agree with your opinion and send you free replacements. It is encouraging to know that, to date, I have not seen anyone post that they have sent their materials in for the free replacement and their request was denied because their materials were not counterfeit.
