Deploying OCS in mulitiple domain within same forest RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

I am having multiple domains but within same forest. I have deployed OCS 2007 in single domain but other users from other domain want to use the OCS. Is there any possibility that i can enable other domain users using my current domain OCS server?

Early response would be highly appreciated

  • Yes you can as OCS 2007 supports universal groups now..

Have a look at the planning guide, you will find your topology is "Single Forest with Multiple Domains"

  • Actually that scenario as documented is for supporting multiple Front-end pools (both Enterprise and Standard) in separate domains.  I beleive he is asking if he can leverage the existing OCS server deployment in one domain with users in another domain without deploying additional OCS server components.

    Satpal,

You'll need to make some configuration changes to OCS to support any new SIP domains you plan to use with the other domain users, unless you want them to have the same SIP addresses.

Take a look at these resources for some more details on how to approach that scenario:

  • just for your info the picture does show users from "users.fabrikam.com" and "branch.users.fabrikam.com" hosted on an OCS EE pool in "production.fabrikam.com". So users from multiple domains all hosted on a single OCS pool in yet another domain which is what I understood he was asking.

The one thing to do to make this work is running the /domainprep switch on your child domains where you either will have the OCS servers or Users hosted.

    Thanks all,

You all solved my queries. I have both two option to deploy OCS in multiple domain

    1. By using the one enterprises pool which i have created.

    2. Other domain can use already created enterprises pool or can be created other pool on thoise domains.

Please let me know if wrong somewhere.
