Validation Problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • I bought the XP Genuine Advantage Kit and installed key and CD that was shipped to me.  I still have a probem when I go to Update site:  I get following message:

Validation Incomplete: Unable to Perform Validation

    [0x80080299]
I have rerun all WGA validation tools and I was able to download updates after initially installing CD, but now it won't validate when I return to update site. Here is result of diagnostic test I ran.  Please help.

Could you try this for me on your computer:

Open interenet explorer, click "tools" then manage add-ons" then find the Windows Genuine Advantage ActiveX control and put it as "ENABLE." If the setting is only allowed to be changed by administratotrs then you mus go to your C:\windows\system32 and DELETE the LegitCheckControl.dll file. Then go to http://www.microsoft.com/genuine and revalidate. That will reload that DLL file correctly. Reboot your computer after this.

Let me know if that takes care of your problem.
