  • This continues to be a problem.  Here is my previous thread trying to resolve the problem.

I have since done a complete reinstallation on another machines, a Shuttle computer.  The system continues to run slow and sometimes locks up completely.  How do I figure out what is going on?  When I can get into the Task Manager under the Performance tab it shows virtually no processor load even while it is locking up.  Sometimes there appears to be a lot of processor activity with no applications evident to account for it.

Where else can I look to try and figure out what is going on?

  • I experienced those type of symptoms after setting my disks as AHCI in the BIOS - should have been OK but it wasn't. I gave up in the end and reinstalled with SATA disks set to IDE - problem solved.
