Buy windows 7 or just a new key?

Question
-
Hello,
I have a laptop running Windows 7 with a its liscence key and a old desktop computer running Windows Vista. I want to upgrade my old computer to Windows 7. I understand that I can't use the same key for two computers. I was just wondering what would be the simplest and less expensive thing to do? Buy the whole Windows 7 software with a new key? Or is it possible to use the same software I already have and buy just a new key (for cheaper)? I don't know if it works that way... I just thought it would make sense.
Thank you.

Product keys are never sold separately by Microsoft. If you see a listing on an auction site, online classified ad, or other online page advertising product keys for sale, it’s a good indication that the keys are likely stolen or counterfeit. If you were to purchase and use a stolen or counterfeit product key to activate Windows installed on your PC, the key may not work for activation, may already be in use on another PC, or it might be blocked from use later by Microsoft when the key is reported stolen.
always purchase from a well known legitimate retailer. always cheaper in the long run as it avoids having to purchase twice.

Thank you for your answer.
I was looking for the software on retailers' websites and I saw that there's Windows 7 "Full version" and "Upgrade". I'm not sure what I should get. If I want to go from my Vista to a 7, is it considered to be an upgrade? Or should I buy the full version?
I don't know if Upgrade means upgrade of an older Windows 7 version to a newer one or from any former Windows OS to Windows 7.
Thank you.

If you have a genuine version of Windows Vista installed on your old desktop computer, please run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. You can purchase genuine Windows 7 Upgrade versions from the Microsoft Store.
