Can I upgrade my older MCSA with test 70-417? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I got my MCSA in 2002 for Server 2000. Is there any way I can upgrade my cert or do I need to start over from the beginning? I called MS and they said I needed to take 70-410, 70-411, 70-412 as well as 70-417. That doesn't seem right.

  • Hi,

There is no upgrade available any more for Server 2000 certification, even upgrading from Server 2003 is very limited as most exams have expired.

As MS already suggested you need to pass 70-410, 70-411 and 70-412 first to achieve MCSA: Server 2012.

Passing 70-417 is not required, this exam is only valid if you have MCITP certification or MCSA: Server 2008.

So with 3 exams you have the Entry level Windows Server 2012 certification again.

    Good luck with the exams!
