I have tried uninstalling and re-installing, I have checked and there are no other copies of Office on my computer but every time I enter the product key I get a message to say it is incorrect.  I cannot find a telephone number to call and am tearing my hair out.

  • Hello monkey2010,

The Office Status Office Status: 102  indicates that your installation of Office is an activated Trial of Office Home and Student 2007.

Many major comuter manufacturers install a Trial copy of Office onto their computers intended for retail sale to consumers.  Some installed editions are actually a fully licensed copy of Microsoft Works v9 with an associated Trial of a Microsoft Office 2007 edition, such as Office Professional 2007, but most are what you have, Office Home and Student 2007.

Your situation sounds like many others who have posted here in the Office section of the forum.  They are mistakenly trying to enter the product key on the Certificate of Authenticity sticker that is located on the computer case or the bottom of a laptop, thinking that this product key is for Office.  The product key on the Windows CoA is for Windows only, it is not supposed to convert and activate a Trial of Office into a perpetually licensed installation of Office.

Please refer to this Office Help article for more information about activating a Trial installation of Office, and then later converting the Trial into a perpetually licensed installation of Office:  http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HA101936151033.aspx

  • Hello monkey2010,

This may sound like a stupid question, but I just want to confirm that the Product Key you are trying to use is for Home and Student 2007 version of Office.

Also, did you just recently buy this office? Did you install Office using the disk that it came with?  If your Office didn't come with a disk, were did you buy it from?

    Thank you,

    Darin MS
