Slow Desktop sharing performance when presenter is connected through remote desktop

  When a user is working remotely they connect to their workstation on our corporate lan through remote desktop.  If this user tries to share their desktop with another user on the corporate lan the performance is extremely slow. 
  
  PC to PC desktop sharing on the corporate lan works fine, the problem only occurs when the presenter is sharing while connected through a remote desktop session.
  
  If we create a gotomeeting session between the two workstations, everything works at a normal speed even while the presenter is using remote desktop.
  
  Is there any workaround that can fix this slow performance?
