can synctoy delete files in left folder once copied over to right folder RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, first time to post here!

im trying to set up easy syncing so i dont have to copy and paste all the time, just started synctoy and while it does a great job i cant seem to find exactly what im looking for.

i would like to be able to copy files from left folder to right folder and once copied delete files in left folder without modifying right folder.

im basically reorganize my films and music etc and dont want 2 copies of each i just need 1 copy, going from desktop to htpc. i will be copying over on a regular basis after rips and downloads.

if synctoy cant do this is there a way of automating this another way.

  • You might be using the wrong tool.  Utilities like SyncToy and RoboCopy are primarily designed to keep 2 different stores in sync.  I you are looking to "move" files from one store to another, the MOVE command is probably what you are looking for, or a combination of using XCOPY and DEL.
