How to: Update Rollups RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all!

I have two questions about rollups:

How do you install the roll-ups on the servers and on the clients? The updates are not available with WSUS oder Windows Updates.

    Do you install every rollup?

    Thanks for your help.

    Kind regards

  • Hello,

UR7 ist prequisite for the following ones, later URs contain all rollups starting with UR8.

On servers you have to install them manually.

On Clients you can use the auto-update-feature (http://blogs.msdn.com/crm/archive/2008/05/08/crm-client-autoupdate.aspx ).

    Best regards,

  • To answer your question: There´s no way of automated installation process for server update rollups (like WSUS). So you have to check your update emails (keep informed for updates - within system setting). If you´re reading that there´s a new rollup you should take a look, if there´s a fix offered for a problem you actually have or if there´re performance offerings. Then you should ask yourself wether to install or not install this RU.

If you´re installing you should keep your clients in sync - so the best way here is to use the auto update feature for clients.

You don´t need every rollup. But Rollup 7 is mandatory for the new outlook client features. With update Rollup 11 there will be some new performance offerings and with UR 9 you´ll have outlook 2010 support (32bit).

Hope this is an answer as you like

  • 1 - Additionally after installing the roll-up in the server, there is no need to install it in the client manually (Just refreshing the client browser will do and delete temp internet files in your IE browser)

    2- Refer this thread

    Hope this helps

  • Hi,

There is an update rollup for:  server, outlook crm client, srs connector, email router.

Only need to install the latestest update rollup as they are cumulative with the exception of the outlook crm rollup which needs ur 7 as the 'base'.

  • thanks for your help, but that's all clear!

    i just wanted to know if you install every roll-up (7, 8, 9, 10...)?

and how do you get these updates? manually or is there an automatic possibility? (wsus, windows updates)

and how to install the crm-client in a network?
