Changed motherboard bios, new graphics card, new SSD, new memory 16gb, same copy win 7 ultimate, shown to be Build 7601 in DXDIAG? RRS feed

  • Question

  • My Win 7 ultimate is a retail version bought from Amazon. As I said in the title, I have added new video cards (2 SLI), new matched pairs 4x 4 gb memory sticks, and updated motherboard BIOS to UEFI (latest for the board, Z68XP-UD3P). My first attemp was a waste of time due to attaching the SLI bridge the wrong way. This resulted in a lot of crashings. Didn't know at the time but after 4 days, discovered the mistake. So reinstalled Win 7 ultimate (wiped the first one and started afresh again). During the 1st attempt, I have to use the phone to activate Window. The 2nd time, I have to use the phone again. Now, when ! go to System properties, the Genuine badge is there. But when I run DXDIAG 64bit, it still says I have a 7601 build. This resulted in me not being able to install Crysis 3: Hunter edition. Well, this is what Origin has claimed. So, there is no way to get rid of this build 7601 entry then?

Oh, another thing, I tried to run window genuine diagnostic tool, it won't let me?!?!?! Saying that I have to run it in IE. I was running it in IE!!!! My default browser is set to Chrome, is that a factor?

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

  • There is no problem with WGA/MGA evident in your MGADiag report -

The Build 7601 simply means that Service Pack 1 is installed. (7600 is the RTM build)

    This is perfectly normal.
