Windows Home Server Console Won't Display my computers on the back up tab. RRS feed

    I have been using home server for about a month now and I haven't really been using it much other than for storage but I want to start backing up my home computers to it and none of them display themselves on the console back up tab.  Any reason for this to happen?

    Have you installed the Connector software on each Client computer?

    yes and it keeps telling me that I cannot see my server, any ideas why?  I am running Win7 could that be affecting it? or maybe a setting in the workgroup/homegroup?

    Then that is the problem. The Connector software has to install correctly for the client to be registered with the server. Suggest you search this website for similar problems to try to resolve that issue. Is your router working correctly? Can you ping the server by name as well as IP address? Is there anything unusual about your network?

    I don't think there is anything different about it, its a linksys wifi router, I am not sure if its G B or N myself.  Could age be a factor, it is a bit old say almost 5 years.
