lost privilege to create contact RRS feed

  • Question

  • My apologies...

We have a third party incident tool.  Separate data base that keeps its own account and contact.  When creating a contact, the third party creates one of each.  Suddenly a week ago, certain users (not different by role) started having problems where they got lack of privilege denials on the CRM client create WHILE the third party records were created successfully.

This is why I feel so bad bothering ya'll, but assuming no changes to the third party code (it didn't) what could have happened to CRM or the Microsoft infrastructure to affect this?

Remember, two users with the same roles, sitting in the same room and one gets the problem while the other goes along fine.

  • Hi mardukes,

It's hard to help without any technical informations. I believe that you have a plugin which is registered on the Create method on the contact entity. Try to unregister plugin and check if this was causeing an issue.

Also I suggest to run a trace and wait until problem will occur but remember that running trace have impact on the performance.

  • If we unregister the plugin, which is third party, then we shut off the other side -- it may create CRM contacts but it won't create 3rd party contacts.

I know it's a bad question so I appreciate any notions anyone has.  The vendor's engineer is examining it but doesn't seem to be getting anywhere.

What I can't get is why some users don't work and others do though they have the same roles.

  • Somehow jiggling the roles fixes it.  But just adding the same role doesn't.  Except for the fact that all users were not uniformly affected, I would swear someone went in and removed privileges from some role.

At any rate, thanks for all your consideration.  If it ever comes to light what was wrong I will finish this story.
