CPU usage on Desktop Window Manager

-
I am having loads of problems due to Desktop Window Manager. As a standard it runs at between 15 and 17% CPU but every week it will decide to run up to 98% - this causes issues with everything - mouse won't move or click, internet won't function properly, programs like Sage won't function. It can take up to 5 restarts to resolve this - til next week.
Having Googled it, I am informed I can't turn it off in Windows 10 - is there anything else I can do to stop it strangling my pc?

Hello,
The Windows Desktop Perfmon and Diagnostic tools forum is to discuss performance monitor (perfmon), resource monitor (resmon), and task manager, focusing on HOW-TO, Errors/Problems, and usage scenarios.
As the question is off topic here, I am moving it to the Where is the Forum... forum.Karl
