Windows 8 client restore RRS feed

  • Question

  • I can successfully backup\restore individual files from\to my win 8 x64 computer. I can not due a client restore using the restore usb key.

Is this because whs 2011 is win 7 based?

Can I create a win 8 restore key and transfer files from the server created restore key to make this work. If so what files?

Has anyone done a successful restore of a win 8 client?

  • You don't say at which point the restore fails and what the associated error message is. There is no fundamental reason why you can't restore a Win 8 backup - it is nothing to do with WHS2011 being based on Server 2008.

  • As Phil says, we need more info. At what point does restore fail, and with exactly what error? I've restored Windows 8 successfully, so it's got to be specific to your situation.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • In my case the restore process shows the error after 100% saing (translation) the system could not find the destination path.

The client is runing windows 8 x64

    Thanks
