Underscores in code blocks don't show up in IE, do in Firefox?

Question
-
When posting an answer to someone earlier, I used a code block (VB formatted) that had some underscores in it. When I posted the reply, the underscores were no longer visible. What is odd about this, is that they ARE still there if you copy/paste the text, so it has to be something with the way IE is displaying it.
I looked at the same page with Firefox, and the underscores are there, likewise when editing the post in IE, the underscores are there. Only not in the final completed post.
I checked on 2 machines just to make sure I am not crazy, or it wasn't simply a setting on one machine.

I confirm this behavior. Underscores present on Mozilla (SeaMonkey), but not on IE6 (do not have IE7 on this machine).
No great loss for me as forums are unusable on a non-tabbed browser, IMHO.
