Trouble syncing two folders with the same names

Question
-
My brother & I want to back up our photo collections between our respective computers. We each call the folder "Photos". We each add the folder to the mesh, and then give the other read-only access. There are a few difficulties we've run in to:- Both folders have the same name, so it's hard to tell which is which. I would rather name my folder "Photos" when I see it, and "Jay's Photos" when he sees it, and on his computer it'd live in "D:\Shares\Users\Jay\Photos" and on mine in "D:\Shares\Photos". (Vice-versa for his, of course.) I wish the folder names could vary.- I can't easily tell if our folders are synced correctly. We periodically email each other with "My copy of your folders has 141 directories and 4023 files", but when they don't match, figuring out why is hard. I wish that I could check the sync status, and that I could see which files were not synced.Saturday, December 20, 2008 9:33 PM

The name of the folder on the Live Desktop can be different from the name on the local computer, so you could have "Jay's Photos" and "(your brother's name) Photos" on the Live Desktop, each mapped to "Shared\Photos" on your respecitive computers. However I don't think it's possible to have the name appear differentenly depending on who is looking at the folder.
You can specify to which folder on your local computer a folder on the Live Desktop should synchronize, and this can be different on different computers. So "Jay's Photos" could sync to "D:\Shares\Photos" on your computer and to "D:\Shares\Users\Jay\Photos" on your brother's computer.

Hi,
You may also wish to add to our Suggestions sticky any ideas you have for improving Live Mesh functionality (e.g., a better way to see if a folder is up to date).
Thanks for trying Live Mesh!
