Microsoft Community Contributor question

Question
-
Yesterday I noticed MCC listed in my profile, was not sure what it was so I Googled it and it said this meant Microsoft Community Contruibuter. Was there until about two hours ago now it's not in my profile nor next to my name as it was several hours ago.
Any idea why it was there and now it's gone?

Form what I understand the MCC program was put on hold for the past 6 months or so while they implemented some sort of automated recognition system. It looks like this work is nearing completion but a few teething problems are still being ironed out.
There are a couple of threads in this forum on the subject: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/Profile/threads

I think this happened to a few people (myself included) over the past 48 hours. As a stab in the dark I would think you may have qualified for the award but the badges were given in error as you are supposed to get an email for you to accept first.
That makes sense especially if it happened to you and others. Thanks for the thought, will have to see what transpires.KSG

I was just wondering myself what has become of the (MCC) badge? I've had it myself for quite a long time but I'm not seeing it any more.
I thought perhaps because I've been forthcoming in sharing my own (sometimes negative) opinions of recent Microsoft developments rather than being a fanboy that I might have been stripped of the title, and frankly I wouldn't mind one bit - I'm not here for titles.
But it seems odd that the (MCC) badge appears to have just quietly disappeared from everywhere.

About a month ago the MCC program came back to live. Many people (myself included) were given that award (which is now 3 months in duration only) and the only recognition is the badge. However, this badge did not appear for me and for many other people who recently received that e-mail (BTW, my own e-mail went into SPAM folder and if I would not send inquiry to the MCC coordinator, I would think I was left out again as it happened with the first round of awards, when I was awarded very late in the cycle).
Anyway, since the badge didn't appear, we complained to the coordinator and this is the latest I heard from him
First, I wanted to address the question pertaining to the badge not appearing in the community. With the new re-launch of the Microsoft Community Contributor badge, we are steadily adding the badge next to the names of those who’ve received the recognition. In the process of this change, there was a small operational bug that prevented a limited number of Microsoft Community Contributors from seeing the badge. A member of our team has personally taken to remedy this issue as soon as possible. This, hands down, is our top priority, because it’s a primary component of being recognized.
I received this e-mail last Friday. I sent another letter since then, which didn't get a response. So far, no badges were given to the people who got the award in the middle of October although this is the only way this award is useful now.

That is completely understandable, should I simple wait say a week and see what happens or email them?KSG

Did you receive an e-mail in the beginning of October? I'd say, there is nothing wrong in e-mailing. The more often we complain, the more chances it will be resolved in the timely manner.

I've seen the same thing as you do. Just a minute ago I saw MCC near Huan's name http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/transactsql/thread/a71b66d7-9b3f-4a4d-9410-dc25cf484179
Right now it shows without MCC.

My blogThe same exact thing happened to me, saw MCC (spelled out) near my name in a thread but not under the section on the right with my profile. I logged out, logged back in and MCC that was near my name in the thread was also gone.
BTW I e-mailed them and rec'd a two business day time for them to respond.

The list of current awardees is at https://www.microsoftcommunitycontributor.com/current-recipients.aspx
FWIW, George1009 (a fellow WGA specialist) was re-awarded in October - and is on the list - but his MCC 'badge' seems to have gone AWOL last week sometime.
I'll get him to contact MCCGA and see what happens.

This list only reflects people who opted to be put in that list. In other words, if you explicitly not agree to appear in that list, your name will not appear, therefore this is not a complete list.
BTW, I e-mailed few times more and didn't get responses. Last response was on Friday 2 weeks ago that someone from the team is working to show badge for awarded people. Nothing happened since then.
Same as here with 'Unexpected error' problem. It's been a month or more since the errors started to show and they still show - like right now.

last weekend the MCC award did appear besides my name but now it had disappeared again even I'm still listened in the list.
In addition I've a different question related to MCC award.
some Microsoft pages about MCC mentioned that MCC member get a 1-year subscription to the Microsoft Press E-Reference Library.
- REWARD: The reward is a "small benefit": the award status in your TechNet/MSDN profile and a 12-month subscription to the Microsoft Press E-Reference Library. The MCC award ends after one year.
is this benefit still available or is that page out of date (as it even mention one year award and not only 3 month).

I think that this reward is no longer available. This award is now completely worthless and the only worth is supposed to be that badge. However, due to some internal bug this badge does not appear. I suspect none of the people awarded recently (in October) did get the award to show.
You may want to e-mail MCC coordinator and ask him these questions and post back his response if any. My few last inquiries are left unanswered, but I suspect the more people will try to get some answers, the better chances are of fixing the bug and receiving an answer.

You need to get the e-mail so you can add your name to the list.
By the way, as always I don't see these same MCC letters near my name! Perhaps it's because I complained too much :)
And of course, I got 'Unexpected error' while trying to post this message. Why I am not surprised!
BTW, looks like practically everyone did get MCC, but me!

Ok, hopefully you'll get a response. I do not get responses on my e-mails nor did I get the MCC near my name. The only proof I got it is in that e-mail I fished from the SPAM folder.

First off thanks again for you assistance in this matter. Secondly in regards to you not having the MCC, I agree that it is strange especially from looking at what you have done here along with being a moderator, safe to say seems like you should have MVP near your name.KSG

The following might be of interest.
After several failed attempts for me to receive the welcome email thru my Comcast account the MCC admin asked if I had another email account to try. Gave them my Gmail account and did receive the welcome email. Interesting things is there are no issues with me receiving forum alerts at all via my Comcast account.

That may be a case for some other people as well. My problem got resolved in the meantime so I am only now waiting an answer on email I sent in regards to MS employee with that badge. And it will be interesting to know why couple of deserving folks don't show this badge - could it be because they never sent e-mail to MCC coordinator or were somehow left out?

I found 2 cases of MSFT employee (contingent stuff) showing MCC badge. The FAQ states that MSFT employee can not be MCC. I reported both cases, but didn't receive anything in regards to the first case (second I reported just now).
The question is - is it OK or against the rules?
Got 'Unexpected error' trying to post this.
UPDATE. On my latest report got a reply that they are going to look into it.

Thanks for the suggestion, but the badge means nothing to me. People are helped by my posts whether or not there's some kind of useless award next to my name. It's not like Microsoft gives out Windows licenses to MCC members for helping thousands of their users for free.

Those "promotions" were bestowed on me without asking me whether I actually wanted the honors first. I sure they meant well. Trouble is, I don't have a desire to help Microsoft manage their forums without being paid for it. Contributing technical support help to their customers for free should be enough.
