I mean situation when big company wants to use CRM to create/migrate internal portal with all employees (~1000), projects and customers. It means next:
- a lot of different features like employee reporting and profiles storing with different security rights for their access, departments structures, financial reports and calculations, customer list with the different resource planners etc.
- High load with online user session on such system;
- Huge DB structure (as I know MS CRM generates too many tables by default). I mean around 1000 tables;
So, in this case will it still work fine? And, of course, will need to use some code development to cover all needs: in this case, is there any architecture approaches/best practices?
In short answer yes dynamics CRM can achieve all your requirements provided you has relevant hardware/network for this.
Please refer following document related to performance benchmark for CRM 2013, there would simialir document avilable for other version of CRM (i.e. CRM 2011 or CRM 2015)
