Is my site banned from MSN? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello! About a year ago, my site www.universitydegreefinder.com underwent a redesign and was down for some time. When the site went live again I noticed that we had lost all of our rankings in MSN, and that in fact, we were no longer indexed (not even the homepage).

I've been trying to submit our url ever since, with no success.

I've also tried contacting MSN to get some feedback (via the proper channels) on whether or not my site is banned and have even gone as far as to submit a sitemap. The sitemap has been verified but returns no urls.

So I guess my question is, am I banned? And if so, why? The site has plenty of fresh content and enjoys solid rankings in Yahoo and Google.

  • Hey Hugo, to determine if your site has been banned (or blocked) by Live Search, log into the webmaster tools, verify your website and check the summary page to see if it has been blocked. If indeed it has been blocked, use the form to contact us to find the issue and submit a reinclusion request.

I'm having fairly similar issues with our site.  But we actually bought the url secondhand and since taking over the url and redesigning it we are yet to see rankings and/or be indexed.  I too am wondering if our site has banned.  Is there someone who can check on this for me.  We've owned and operated the site since 6/07 and are yet to see results in MSN.

If someone can help us with this, please don't hesitate to respond.  When asking for help via MSN Live help I simply get automated responses that don't give me a lot of information as they are too broad and general.

  • Nate, will it always show up? I had a site disappear about a year and a half ago after moving it and running into some DNS mixup problems at the new host. If I look in webmaster tools, all it says is that there's no information, nothing about being blocked.

  • Firstly, I never knew this facility existed so Congratulations MS for stealing a march on the competition by having a facility like this moderated and observed by MS staff.

Secondly I had two sites that were removed from the LiveSearch index by accident (or rather the search bot thought they used questionable material but a later human investigation proved otherwise) and I received an email from MSLiveSearch support saying that they had been reincluded in the index. That was four weeks ago and still nothing.

I have just completed the steps suggested in this thread and the urls were accepted. Six Million Dollar question. Does this mean now that theywill get back into the seach index. I am not insisting they necessarily get back to their old positions (though that would be nice as they were all 1,2 and 3 etc) just that they are back "in the mix" and I have a chance to get them working properly again.

Google and Yahoo loved these sites and so it is weird that MS removed them :-(

The sites were Best Flat Screen TV
and Living With High Blood Pressure

Am I correct inmy assumption that as they were accepted they will get back in the MS / Windows LiveSearch?

    Cheers

  • My site bankcd.com was dropped from the index over a year ago and I still don't know why. Summary indicates: Indexed pages: 1 (however no pages are listed on MSN), Last crawled: 0/0/0000, Blocked: No, Domain rank: N/A. There are no pages listed under "Top 5 pages". I've posted a sitemap and the META tag for verification. What should I do?

  • Hello, thanks for your time.  My site here is not showing up on msn.com or live.com?  I have not  spammed or done anything wrong that i know of.  Thanks for your help.

  • Nathan, Please advise where in the webmasters tools we can expect to find this information as to weather a site is blocked or not? also where we might find the elusive form that supposed to allow us to submit a site for re-inclusion?

I think you might have been reading one of the other moderators misguided comments or maybe had a bad night when you thought you found these.
