WindowsXP is not genuine RRS feed

  • Question

  • This is a genuine copy of Windows supplied with the PC, the licence number and COA are identical, they pass all of the 'How To Tell' tests and the diagnostic tool shows it to be genuine.

Help would be appreciated, I would understand if I had bought an illegal copy or was using on more than one machine but this is not the case.

    WgaTray also fails to work.

    Help would be appreciated.

    Many thanks

Have you rebooted after revalidation? Sometimes the new loading of the DLL needs a reboot to sync with the Windows system files. Can you also repost your WGA Diag information after the reboot? The first posting shows an odd WGA validation version.

If that does not clear issues, I would suggest creating a service request with our support team so they can more intimately help you and resolve the issue.

I'm terribly sorry for the inconvenience caused, I do hope it gets fixed ASAP.

Can you go to www.microsoft.com/genuine and revalidate. Let us know if that fixes your issue!

    Thanks,

  • Greg, thankyou for your suggestion.

Validated OK but still have non genuine logo on login and out and the piracy star on the bottom of the screen.

    Further assistance would be appreciated.

    Regards

    Can you try doing this?

Open internet explorer, click "tools" then "manage add ons" then find the Windows Genuine Advantage activeX control and put it as "ENABLE". If the setting is only allowed to be changed by administrators, then you must go to your C:\windows\system32 and DELETE the LegitCheckControl.dll file. Then go to http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/Validate.aspx?displaylang=en and revalidate. That will reload the DLL file correctly.

Reboot your computer, once you're back in Windows see if the problem is fixed.

    Thanks,

    Greg
