I'm working with a team, updating the CRM 4.0 Organisation entity with some additional information. We are all working through a VPN client. Although I am not myself experiencing errors while updating fields, my collegues are (I'm on a Macintosh, they are using Windows Vista).
Here is a description of their problem:
"This error occurs when you try to save all the data at once (as you would do normally). Currently you can get around the problem by saving it every time you enter info into a new field. This however is a painful process."
This is the error they are receiving:
"An error has occured.
Try this action again. If the problem continues, check out the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Community for solutions or contact your organization's Microsoft Dynamics CRM Administrator. Finally, you can contact Microsoft Support"
I'm not sure if Organization is a modified entity or not. I was brough into this project mid way and took on the admin role without being given history!
What I will do is remote assist my colleagues who are experiencing this error using your methods. I'll post back with my findings.
