Installing Vista Ultimate 64-bit after 32-bit Install RRS feed

  • Question

  • I purchased a retail copy of Vista Ultimate. It came with 32-bit and 64-bit DVDs. I opted to install the 32-bit at the time because of the lack of 64-bit driver support for my motherboard. I am now ready to install 64-bit Ultimate.

Can I upgrade 32-bit to 64-bit? (I have full version DVDs not upgrade)
Do I have to deactivate the 32-bit install before installing 64-bit?
Can I configure a dual boot with 32-bit or 64-bit with the same license?

  • Vincinator44,

Unfortunately this falls outside the scope of WGA support. I can say since you purchased the retail version you can uninstall the 32 bit version and perform a fresh installation of the 64 bit version. Please visit http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.mspx regarding the other questions you posed here.

Thank you Vincinator and have a GREAT week :-).
