Bootleg windows7 sold to me by amazon for $189.00 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I purchased a windows 7 ultimate disc for Dell computers once I started getting updates. I started getting notices on my computer that this was not a genuine version of windows. I contacted Amazon about this problem, and was told it was genuine & they couldn't assist me with this matter. I offered to return the software to them for a refund ans was told that if I hed downloaded the disc a refund was not available to me. So how can you help me?

  • It is not legal to sell downloads with Windows 'licenses' (except for MS, Dell itself, and DP) - you bought a counterfeit from an Amazon MarketPlace trader.

Complain to the trader, and to Amazon, and demand a refund from the trader.

Please post an MGADiag report - it will give you some ammunition.

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
     Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.

  • Feel free to submit a Software Counterfeit Report directly with Microsoft.
