  • Have you tried turning off the firewall temporaly to see if it is a firewall problem or not?

  • What ports do you need?  As in 80 and 443 are used by WHS If you are using others ports make sure that your scope for the firewall rule has any ip's checked for remote

  • From a client on your network you can test to see if the ports are open on the server doing this:

If it is XP click Start >run, type cmd, and press enter.

On a Vista/WIN7 box click the Windows logo, type CMD and press enter.

In the black cmd window type

    telnet servername 9987

If you get a blinking cursor the port is open.  If you get it "don't work", you have not properly configured the firewall.

  • If it works on your lan either you did not properly set the firewall to allow external IP's or you have not configured your router properly

  • Does your ISP block ports? Use ShieldsUp at www.grc.com to see if the individual ports are open - if they are not, either your settings are wrong or they are being blocked.

  • I really think you have made an error in the firewall settings.  Disable/turn off the firewall and give it a go.

Or send screenshots of your router config, firewall config, and an ipconfig of the server
