WHS Console RRS feed

  • Question

  • I *just* rebuilt by WHS.  NO add-ins.

When I try to launch the console, I get the "the windows home server experienced a problem... <retry> <skip>"

Lots of errors in the log...  I tried the rename-unfinished-.dll-and-back idea and the console opened with no error, but the tab stays gone the next times around...

Please help, going bonkers with this!

Here is the output of the console log:

  • John, wipe the entire system disk (using the CLEAN command in diskpart, or your partition management software of choice), then try a reinstall again. Note: if Windows Home Server has stored anything other than tombstones on the D: partition (it may do so if other drives are full) you could lose some data. You may want to back up the contents of D:\DE\Shares\etc. temporarily.

  • Have you tried removing the WHS Console throught Add/Remove Programs and re-installing it?

One WHS v1 machine in the basement with a mixed setup of harddrives in and outside the storage pool. And now, next to it, a Vail Refresh brother for beta duties.

  • What prompted you to rebuild your server?

  • Christian, you can't uninstall and reinstall the console. It's an application that runs on the server; it's remoted out to clients through a Remote Desktop session that's had all chrome removed.

  • System disc went awol after a power failure...  cmos battery died, ups battery died, lost raid config...  was doing a re-install and the power went off during the reinstall process TWICE.  Lost settings, only got a "new install" option...

it wasn't storming.  They aren't doing construction.  I SWEAR someone at the power co was "watching me!"  LOL.  nah, REAL REAL bad timing...  all of this was over the course of 4-5 days.

Looks like I may be "in" for another re-install, huh?  I just got everything restored from BUPS and from the DE folders across drives...  Did all MS updates, then the tabs ...fell off...

    Thanks, Ken!

    Thanks Ken!

I do have this in the console logs now, is it something to be concerned about?
