Activation Issues after enabling on-board LAN

Question
-
G'Day Everyone,
I have come across a problem with the validation service that you may be able to help me with.
I have a HTPC that has been running happily (and genuinely) for over 4 years. Recently, I relocated some network equipment that allowed me to wire the network connection to this PC rather than use the wireless connection. I reactivated the on-board LAN in BIOS and loaded the most recent drivers. (the port was disabled and the drivers deleted for security reasons). Once the PC rebooted, the activation server decided that the hardware was out of tolerance, and declared my installation non-genuine. I can disable the NIC in BIOS, and the activation server declares my installation genuine again (I have done this a couple of times - largely to prove the point, but also to see if there was a certain order needed.) I also tried drivers of different ages in case this could have sparked the failure. Of note - I can enable the NIC but not load the drivers and the installation remains genuine. However, the operating system and, of course, the LAN does not work
This is an OEM version purchased from a reputable dealer specifically for the Motherboard and and CPU it is currently running. OK - I get the "out of tolerance" bit, but only to a point. I am a bit peeved that I can somehow change my hardware just using the keyboard. I hadn't opened the case in over 5 months since I upgraded the video card.
I am not sure if you can help - but if not - then let this be a warning to anyone who takes security seriously... It may just invalidate your Genuine Advantage.
There are two reports below - one with the NIC activated and one without.

It's quite possible that the problem is the result of changing the MAC address on the machine since the original activation - this is known to cause complaints from WGA.
Usually, so long as the original MAC is visible to the OS (even if not in use) then the problem goes away.
If you really want to remove the original activation, you'll have to talk to an Operator, and persuade them of your case (not usually too muchof a problem)
telephone activation (operator calls)
Click on the Start button
in the Search box, type
SLUI 4
and hit the Enter key
follow the instructions, but when asked which service you require by the telephone ansafone, do NOT reply - this should force an operator to respond, who can deal with you

Go to this web site and click on Validate Windows. Afterward, restart your PC and post a new MGA Report.

Thank you for responding Mr Frisch. At your suggestion, I have retaken the tests and posted the results. The situation still appears to be the same with the GA reporting as non-genuine with the onboard LAN activated., albeit the grace period appeared to be reset to 3 days.
The results of the two tests are below. The "before" state, without the onboard LAN activated appears to be identical to what was previously posted
The procedure I used was;
From a valid state where the onboard LAN was disabled;
1. Reboot; Online link; reboot; test
2. Reboot (activate LAN in BIOS), load driver; reboot, reboot, online link; reboot; test
// On Board LAN disabled in BIOS (after reboot, online validation check and reboot)

Thanks for your response, Mr Paton. I suspected it was going to be something along those lines. I had disabled the NIC before I even installed Windows.
I did have one attempt at pleading my case with the MS operator, but was told quite bluntly that "I had significantly changed my hardware and that the OEM license does not allow that" The point that it is exceedingly difficult to significantly change the hardware without opening the case seemed to be lost on that guy. Perhaps I will try again and see if I can work with a more accommodating operator.
Thanks to all who helped in this. It is a good forum.

Point out to them that you have NOT changed the motherboard - which is the definition that MS uses to 'create a new computer' - you have merely returned the system to the as-built specs.
