Backup Dell Latitude E6500 in hibernate failes RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I new to homeserver and own one for 5 days now. I bought an Acer Easystor H340. Somehow the daily backup of my Dell Latitude E6500 (3 months old) is not working at all. The BIOS is set to wake up on WLAN and LAN. Somehow the laptop is getting to live but there's no trace of an attempt a backup is going to be made. The laptop stays on as well and does not return to hibernate. The laptop is plugged to AC and has a wireless connection to the gateway WHS is connected to. A 6 year old Compaq workstation which is connected with an UTP cable seems to backup just fine. I wakes up, delivers it's backup to the server and goes back to sleep afterwards.

What can be the problem with the Dell here?

  • Try connecting your laptop with a wired connection. Sometimes it takes a long time for a computer to extablish a wireless connection after resuming from hibernation.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • The backup worked when connected with a wired connection.
The laptop however did not go back to hibernate after making the backup. Any suggestions on this one?
