Operating System Patches and CRM Environment RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I was recently given a list of MS patches that our Server Operations team is planning to apply to my CRM Environment.

There appears to be ~ 50 + patches.

Question:  Is there an easy way to determine whether or not these patches will impact the Microsoft Dyanmics CRM 2013 environment!?

    Environment being patched:

Microsoft Dyanmics CRM 2013, Exchange 2007, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2, SharePoint 2010 (basic)

  • Hi,

Who provided the list of patches? Was it Microsoft? It's always better to apply the patches in a pre-production environment and test it thoroughly to check if anything broke before applying it to the production. Also, try to take a snapshot of your production environment before applying the patches just in case anything goes wrong.

  • In general, the CRM documentation (implementation guide and compatibility list) will list if any operating system patches or updates are required for CRM. That's not quite the same as whether they may 'impact' CRM, but I don't think you'd ever get an answer to the 'impact' question
