Syncronization of more than one Folder RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear all,

We have more than one Notebook and a NAS where we store common files.

I want to syncronize with the following rule:

    1. Syncronize latest Version of Files in both ways. When there are conflicts (New Version on both sides since last syncronization) ask for solution. (=SyncToy Option Syncronize). This is important when a file is on 2 Notebooks and both do changes and syncronize.

    2. No deletes on the NAS. When I delete a File on the Notebook, it should not deleted on NAS! (=SyncToy Option Contribute). This is important for Archived Files that are not changed, but should be kept on the NAS.

Is there a way to combine this?

  • Hi,

For syncing file between notebook, you can set action as Syhcronize, this will help you to keep note books be synced with latest version files.  But, SyncToy 2.1 do not support a way to ask for user's solution(If you want this, obviously SyncToy not support).

For syncing files from notebook to NAS, you can create folder pairs, which left folder on notebook, and right folder on NAS, sync action set as Contribute. Syncing with action as Contribute, will not reflect delete action to right side.

So you can use above way to create different folder pairs to work out your problem.

    Hope this could be helpful!
