Desktop Deployment Requirements RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are going to use the Microsoft Sync Framework to synchronize data between multiple client desktop applications and a central SQL server.  Currently, the data will be with a SyncDirection of UploadOnly.  We will be using SQL Compact Edition 3.5 on the client and SQL 2005 as the central server.

My question is:  What will the client desktop's need to have installed for them to use the Sync Framework within our application?  We would like to NOT HAVE TO run any MSI packages but rather just deploy the Synchronization assemblies with the application.  This is how we deploy the SQL Compact Edition and would like to keep it that way in order to simplify our deployment and installation processes.

  • .NET Framework 2.0 and the 3 synchronization DLL files should be enough: Microsoft.Synchronization.Data*.dll in

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Synchronization Services\ADO.NET\v1.0
