No Prompt For Selecting Network Type

General discussion
-
Today I installed the OneCare V2.0 Beta, and it went flawlessly on my Vista Home Premium Compaq laptop. One thing I noticed as I was going through the settings was that it flagged my home wifi network as a 'public' network automatically. In other words, there was no prompt for me to select whether I wanted to flag it as 'home or office' or 'public'. Every other firewall I've used in the past has asked for this selection. I hope that Microsoft will change this minor issue prior to release.Saturday, July 14, 2007 11:39 PM

Hackman
Your home network could be marked public automatically if
1. You are directly connected to the cable modem
2. you have a 10.0 address for your network.
Can you confirm?

2. DHCP hands out a 192.168 addy

Can you please provide us the detailed logs by running c:\program files\Microsoft Windows OneCare Live\OneCareSupport.exe
This sounds like a bug.
Thanks

You can submit a bug and attach the support logs to the bug on Connect or you can send the zip file to me, sboots@mvps.org, and I'll forward it to Microsoft. If you use email, include "OneCare 2.0" in the subject line and a link to this thread in the message body.
