  • Question

  • Hello, I have a Dell laptop that originally had Windows 8, but I loaded Windows 7 Home Premium that I purchased On-line. The computer has been working fine for about a year until last week when it stated it was not a genuine copy of Windows. I tried to re-activate Windows on-line and it said my product was being blocked my Microsoft. Called and tried to activate over the phone and received the same answer. Is there a way to resolve this without purchasing another license key? I have included the diagnostic results. Thanks for the help.

  • Unfortunately, your MGA report indicates the presence of a not-for-resale MSDN Subscription product key for Windows 7 Home Premium edition.  It has been blocked by Microsoft because that product key apparently was sold illegally to many other unsuspecting buyers.  Since Microsoft no longer sells the Home Premium edition of Windows 7, you'll have to purchase a genuine version of Windows 7 Professional and perform a "clean install".

  • Thank you Carey. Was hoping that was not the case.
