Hi,
I am upgrading Microsoft Dynamcis CRM 4.0 to CRM 2011 but getting the following error:
"existing sql server connections to the microsoft dynamics crm database must be closed before setup can continue"
Any idea on this?

do an IIS reset prior to installation. Also you could go to sql server and unattach and reattach the database forcibly to achieve this.

Hi,
I also get same error and it solve via i did IISRESET in CRM Server and restarted the SQL Services and it got resolved.
Stop default instance of SQL Server
net stop mssqlserver
Start and Stop default instance of SQL Server.
You can create batch file to execute both the commands together.

Also, don't forget if you have other services such as scribe or anything else that creates a connection to and from the database these have to be disabled, otherwise you will get this error also.Friday, November 14, 2014 2:56 PM
