I downloaded IE7 for Windows XP SP2 but cannot run the .exe RRS feed

  • Question

I downloaded IE7 from www.microsoft.com for Windows XP SP2 but cannot run the IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe.

I get a message - "This publisher has been blocked from running software on your machine".

I tried the option given in the help link - I went into IE - Tools - Internet Options - Content tab-Publishers-Untrusted Publishers. Sure enough, Microsoft was there as an Untrusted Publisher. I removed the entries.

Still, if I double click on the "IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe" - I get the same message.

I did the diagnostic check and got this info -
