  • From the exams that you passed, I can see that you got several MCTS certifications on the Framework 2.0, but you didn't achieve the MCPD. There are upgrade exams for the MCPD in 2.0 into the MCPD in 3.5, and also for MCPD 3.5 into MCPD 4.0. However, there are no upgrade exams for the MCTS. This makes sense, since you only need 1 exam to get the new version of the MCTS, so doing 1 upgrade exam to achieve the same result would not provide any advantage.

If you want get one ore more MCTS certifications on the Framework 3.5, you only need to take one exam, because the 70-536 that you passed on version 2.0 is still valid for version 3.5.

On the other hand, if you want to certify for the Framework 4.0, you can simply take whatever MCTS exam you wish to achieve. You only need a single exam to get a MCTS on the Framework 4.0.

You are wrong in one thing: Each certification is not "MCTS". They are actually "MCTS:something". That "something" varies depending on the exam.

Specifically, 70-511 gives you "MCTS: Windows Applications Development with Microsoft .NET Framework 4", while 70-433 will produce "MCTS: Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Database Development".

  • If you go to the Certification Logo Builder (in the MCP website), you will be able to build a customized logo that shows the certifications of your choice. Basically, you will get the standard "MCTS" logo accompanied by the list of specific certifications written in smaller letters.
