Who broke the bridge? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Yesterday when the scheduled Microsoft Answers maintenance started, I was no longer able to connect to the NNTP bridge. When signing in, I got an error: Passport Header Missing. I am still getting the error today. Any thoughts?

  • Please upgrade to the latest NNTP Bridge client. This is a known issue and we've released V1 of the client to resolve this problem.

Here's the link: http://connect.microsoft.com/MicrosoftForums. I'll also post (or probably our community program manager) a sticky thread in this Forum in case other people have a similar problem.

    Thanks.

  • Hi, Don.

I removed the beta version and installed the new one. It appeared to go smoothly and when I was done, I rebooted and then signed in. The sign in was also successful, but when I clicked on each group in my newsreader, it was removed. Trying to resubscribe to a group results in this error.

    Thanks for your assistance.

  • I'll loop in our NNTP bridge client team on this. I suggest submitting a bug in the connect site for the bridge client so our team can triage this.

    Thanks for the feedback.

  • Hi Bruce,

Our team has investigated this issue. We were able to connect and download all 3k+ message headers no problem.

Since this is a 411 error code, meaning that "there is no such newsgroup", we'd like to ask you to try resetting your newsgroups or cache.

Did you follow the steps here: https://connect.microsoft.com/MicrosoftForums/content/content.aspx?ContentID=13829 when uninstalling the beta build?

    Thanks,

    Yi,

  • Hi. I just removed V1 and reinstalled it and am now downloading newsgroups. Something was buggy with the first install, but all appears well now.

    Thank you Yi and Don.
