Software Licensing service can not be started - Error code 0xd0000022 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear whom may be concerned,

I have a genuine Vista license on my PC but it did not work OK suddenly. I found that the software licensing service was already set to start automatically but it could not be started even by manually with the error: "Windows could not start the software licensing service on local computer. Error code 0xd0000022-0xd0000022".

When I validate the windows from www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate/, it run for a long time with the massage "validation in progress" but not finish.

I have run some tools like PC Cleaner, ParetoLogic PC Health Advisor, ReimageRepair and change the prooduct key from Control Panel\System and Maintenance\System but the problem can not be resolved.

Please help me to resolve this problem.

  • Hi everybody,

The problem have been resolved now but I am not sure which tool helped me to correct the error.

I run both of the following at the same time:

    1) Run sfc /scannow

    C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan.  This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
    Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

    2) Run the ARO 2011 Trial version.

This announce me that there are about 400 errors totally but it can only fix 100 errors due to the licence register required.

After that I reboot the PC 2 times and everything is OK now.

Thank you anyway for the other threads here.

  • Running the SFC command solved the problem.  You can uninstall ARO 2011 Trial as it is not beneficial.  It would be a good idea to Check your hard disk for errors.

Please UNDO any changes made by ARO, and uninstall it.
Then post a new MGADiag report.

The system is working OK now after a long time of hard work. So I really hesitate to make undo anything.

I have uninstalled the ARO and run MGADiag with a result as follows:

Your installation of Office is non-genuine – you should uninstall it and install a genuine copy.

Your Windows installation appears to be OK now – but you should confirm that by going to the Validation site, and validating manually – www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate

  • 1) It could not be validated by the www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate with the endless message "Windows validation in process". I have tried many times and maked sure the internet connection is OK.

    2) The office installed on my PC is a genuine copy. What reason causes that error? It will take me so much time to reinstall my favourite customization if I have to reinstall the office.

    3) When I run  Check your hard disk for errors on the system drive which is in use, I have to schedule the next restart time to do it. But after the PC had restarted, nothing happened. How can I check if there are any errors on my disk by this method?
Thank you so much for considering!

Thank you so much for considering!

    1) go the the diagnostics page – www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag – see what it has to say.
    2) The Office 2007 Enterprise installed is NOT genuine – although the Visio 2003may be. The Office is a version not for sale to the general public, and it’s Key has been blocked, presumably for abuse.
    3) Open an Elevated Command Prompt windows and type the command CHKNTFS /D and hit the Enter key – then issue another CHKDSK C: /R command – with any luck it will work properly this time.

  • Thank you for your reply.

    1) It works OK now due to the browser of Mozilla Firefox not supported. I had to run it in the IE.

    3) It still can not help with those commands:

    C:\Windows\system32>CHKNTFS /D

    C:\Windows\system32>CHKDSK C:/R
The type of the file system is NTFS.
    Cannot lock current drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process.  Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N) Y

This volume will be checked the next time the system restarts.

    <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden" /><input id="jsProxy" onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" type="hidden" />

    1) – hmmm – FireFox is supposed to be supported – but it may depend on your FF security settings.

Your output from the CHKDSK command looks fine to me – what happened on the reboot?
