office 2003 to office 2007 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have on my computer Works V8, Front page from office 2000, One Notes 2007, and office 2003. Office 2003 was purchased over the web. It had a genuine label but did not pass the validation from Microsoft. I purchased a office 2007. Yes it is an Up grade package. But I do have programs that will pass for the up grade to office 2007. Thought that would solve the Genuine issue. It did not. It still picks up the office 2003.

Should i remove the office 2003 with the add/remove program?

Will that have an effect on the office 2007?

  • Hello Joe C 2007,

Please remove Office 2007 and then the invalid copy of Office Professional 2003 and

you will need to purchase a valid licensed Office Professional 2003, install that, and then upgrade to Office 2007.

If Office 2003 did not pass validation, you may want to reconfirm whether or not it is a non-genuine copy. There are instances where it may not have the right system/browser settings in place for validation to run on the machine successfully.  http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/

Please run the diag tool http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012, then click the Windows tab, Copy to Clipboard, then paste the report into a New Post on this Forum.  This would assist us immensely so we may analyze possible causes for a failed validation.  We can then answer your question more accurately.

  • Should I delete the office 2003? I have already installed office 2007. I don't want to mess the office 2007 program up. The office 2007 is a up grade version. I do have one note 2007 and Works 8.0 on the computed.

  • Joe C 2007,

Unfortunately,  the bad news is that Office Professional 2003 is a blocked volume licensed key which means it will

need to be uninstalled regardless of the upgrade.  The good news is that Windows XP Professional,  Office Professional 2007 and OneNote 2007 are genuine.

In order to make use of your Office Professional 2007 upgrade you will need to obtain a genuine version of Office Professional Edition 2003 either by purchasing online at Microsoft or at a retailer.

Also please review the Validation Advisor for further guidance at:

First, if this comes as a total surprise to you, please visit the retailer where you purchased the software and let them know the software is a counterfeit copy.  Please print a copy of the diagnostic report so you may show them proof for the VLK status. Request they immediately reimburse you and/or provide a Genuine Copy.

Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) is here to help protect YOU, our valued customer. It is important for more people like you to report piracy @ http://www.microsoft.com/piracy/default.mspx  who have become victims. Microsoft legal will follow up on all leads provided.  Submitting piracy reports will assist in stopping unscrupulous business practices.  We CANNOT determine the "Quality" level of non-Genuine submissions and cannot guarantee such a thing here on the forum. You may be eligible for free software if you have high quality counterfeit discs as illustrated here:

Again, we are sorry to hear about your situation. Please be sure to backup or otherwise offload any data from the hard disk because a clean installation/reimaging will destroy all personal user data on the hard drive. • I don't need to purchase office 2003 to use the up gradeed 2007 office program. All I need is one program on my computer or Works 8.0V. Which I have.
My main question is: What will happen when I remove Office 2003? Will it have an impact on Office 2007 which is already installed on the computer. Will I have to re-install office 2007?
Should I remove Office 2007 first then Office 2003 then re-install Office 200?
    What do you think?.
