Genuine Windows Validation won't Install on New Hard disk after System Image Recovery from Backup

Question
-
My original HP supplied 1 Gb 3G/s hard drive died. I replaced it with a 2 Gb 6G/s drive. Used my repair disk to reformat the new drive and copy the complete system image (C: and D:) from external drive. Backup had been made by Win 7, not some other product. I did no new partitioning. Everythings worked fine...until 'it' must have tried to update Windows someway and then I get the "Windows is not Genuine" message. This led to download of Windows Validation Tool which upon run or install comes up with the error message 0xC8000247.
I don't know what to do next.
What completely escapes me is having done all this under and with the tools provided by Windows, why 'it' would think that the copy (OEM HP) is not genuine. I can imagine that that windows might be tied to the mother board, but not to the main hard drive.
I'm sure thousands have replaced an OEM hard drive with a larger one and restored their Windows backup, but I could not find anyone who addressed this same problem.
I see others have used Diagnosstic Report (1.9.0027.0) to obtain some insight on such problems. Where is it found?

The COA product key you see on the sticker is not supposed to be the same as the one in your report. The one in your report is the standard OEM SLP key embedded in the software by the manufacturer. It cannot be used to activate manually because it is not a unique key. For that reason the manufacturer is required to provide an emergency key on the COA label. The COA product key is a unique key and can be used to manually activate Windows if the embedded key cannot see the corresponding codes in the BIOS for some reason.
As expected, the IRSD update fixed you up just fine.

The mismatches suggest that you need to reinstall the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers. This can be caused by a recent update.
Download the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers from here:
http://bit.ly/xmcovN
You’ll need the set for the x64 (64-bit) platform on Win7.
Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
- **in your own thread**, pleasePlease also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

I originally wrote the query in another division of the forum and only at the last moment realized I was about to submit to the wrong group. Perhaps that is why I did not see the requirement for and link to MGADiag. I later found it and ran it, saw 'MISMATCHED" and "TAMPERED" listing of files, had seen Barnhorst's post about IRSD and followed through as he suggests. Thought the problem was solved since I was able to update a couple of components of Windows, but discovered the "Windows is not Genuine" message again this am. I am sending both the Diagnostic Report before IRSD update and after. I do note that the partial Windows Key listed in the Diag Report is NOT at all the one on the sticker on the side of the computer. The Product ID is correct.
