Hi,
I have laptop which has Genuine Windows XP SP2 installed. After the accidental shutdown (not by windows shutdown however by switching off the laptop), when i rebooted system i hit 'lsass.exe - System Error - Object name not found' (i.e. even before seeing user name and password input box for login) and system reboots after I hit OK.
With a bootable CD I logged in and restored the system to 'last known good configuration'. After the reboot I started getting user name & password login box, but when i login with administrator id and password - i hit - "A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for this computer. Error code: 0x80004005", and i could not login to PC after this.
I am able to login into safe mode without network option (i.e. i could not connect to internet from problematic PC), below information is collected after logging into safemode:
On a working PC I downloaded WGA Diagnostic Tool (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012)
and with USB stick I copied into problematic PC and below is the result I got thru it from Safemode.

Curious I am reading you system is a TOSHIBA Satellite A10. Is this correct? Next it appears there may be Dell software installed. Please share with me exactly what system you currently have. Next please share with me more about the Volume Licensing Agreement you currently have.
In the Diagnostic Report (under "File Scan Data-->") you see:
File Mismatch: c:\windows\system32\oembios.bin
File Mismatch: c:\windows\system32\oembios.dat
File Mismatch: c:\windows\system32\oembios.sigYour version of Windows either can not Read or can not fully Understand these files.
These files can only be repaired/replaced by doing a repair installation with your system recovery media. At this point I would recommend for a complete reinstallation by using the system recover media which came with your computer @ the time of purchase.

(800) 457-7777. Next you will want to inquire how to purchase the software recovery media for your particular model system. Recovery CD’s are specific to your computer manufacturer. Please contact your manufacturer for assistance. They should be able to assist with your request and/or questions. Since the telephone number and web sites are not maintained by Microsoft we cannot make any warranty as to their validity.

As a rule, Volume Licensing Key (VLK) agreements are editions of either an Operating System and/or Office should not be sold to individual consumers. Businesses, schools and governments normally use VLK editions for flexibility in installing many computers. Also, Volume Licenses for Windows XP and MS Office are Upgrade licenses ONLY and cannot be used as the original or base license for a new computer. Hopefully this provides more clear information regarding what a Volume Licensing is.

Hello,
Rerun the mgadiag utility. On the Windows tab, click the "Resolve" button. It will run a script that can sometimes clear up the cryptographic problems that your system is experiencing.
After doing that, restart the computer and navigate to this site http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/default.mspx?displaylang=en and click Validate Windows, let it run, restart.

Stephen, thanks for reverting back, I reran 'MGADiag', but Resolve button is disabled for me. Could you please suggest next step for me or is there a way for me to execute that script (which Resolve button triggers) myself.

.... before system restore process, i tried to reinstall the windows to resolve 'lsass.exe' issue, which was not completed coz i have lost Windows XP Installation CD 2.
and then i booted up with boot cd and did perform system restore. after which i started getting 'A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for this computer. Error code: 0x80004005'
could it be because of
C:/windows/system32/$winnt$.inf was corrupted
or
is because of missing
System32\secupd.dat
System32\oembios.dat
System32\oembios.binthese are some points i got after searching in google.
need your support to fix this issue.

Stephen, yes my laptop is TOSHIBA Satellite A10, i am missing the installation/system recovery CD received with TOSHIBA, due to which i tried system recovery CD which i have from Dell, and with this i tried to fixe lsass.exe error, but during installation i was asked to insert CD 2, which i m again missing : (
Please let me know how can i give you details about 'Volume Licensing Agreement', if this referres to the maker of PC, then yes it is TOSHIBA, a Genuine one, with Genuine OS n other MS products installed.
Thanks for your valuable suggestion for complete reinstallation by using the system recover media, however i do not have system recover media received as part of TOSHIBA, so please suggest me what can make it work.

repair installation...which will be rebuilding the registry and rebuilding all the services...
