Cannot invite members RRS feed

  • Question

  • So far Live Mesh works pretty well on 3 PCs, sync and remote desktop are fine.
However, when I try to invite another user to a shared folder I get always the following error message:

Could not invite one or more members to this folder
Request to MOE failes with status code:
400 Request can not be fulfilled.

    Any idea what is wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Steve, the problem still persists on my PC Vista x86 and I have submitted a bug report with ID 483273 including the logs.

By the way, the same problem occurs on 2 other machines running Win7 x86 and Win7 x64.

  • There was another thread on this last month, with no solution. The best that I can suggest is submitting a bug report.

  • Hi Steve, I learned that invites can be done through the Mesh Desktop.
I tried it - and it did work as it is supposed to be.

From the local Mesh folders the invite option still creates only the error message.

    Best regards,

  • Thanks for filing the bug report. Can you advise what the format of the LiveID is for your Live Mesh and also the format of the email address you are trying to invite? It sounds to me like the problem is with LiveID authentication via the desktop client for Live Mesh.

  • Hi Steve, my LiveID is wpoerner_at_hotmail - com - I tried many different email addresses to invite them throug the local client and all caused an error. Among them was wjp_at_live - de which I could succesfully invite through Mesh desktop.

  • They don't look at all unusual to me. It could be a temporary issue server side. What I was looking for was an unusual structure - such as name.name@domain - which you don't have. About the only thing that I can speculate on would be the invited address with .de as the domain extension. Did you try inviting a LiveID with an @hotmail.com or @live.com domain from the client? -steve

  • I tried wjpoerner_at_hotmail - com and another from a friend at hotmail.com from the client - ERRORS

By the way, can I invite only members who have a LiveID already or should I be able to invite any email address?

    Regards, Waldemar

  • PS: I could succesfully invite an email address completely outside of hotmail - msn - live
    - but only through the Mesh desktop not the local client.

  • I think that you can invite any email address, but the recipient would then need to make that a LiveID in order to use Live Mesh - that is, they need to register to use Live Mesh.
Confirmed. I just invited myself at an address that is not a LiveID and the invite was sent.

  • So, no invites at all are working from the client app on the PC, but they are working fine from the Live Desktop....
