Windows Server 2003/2008 support RRS feed

  • Question

  • I know that Windows Server 2003/2008 is not yet supported officially.
I did however managed to install Live Mesh on my Windows 2003 server via the /force option.

It works well, except after an update of Live Mesh, it doesn't want to start anymore. It gives the error 'Failed to start Live Mesh'.

The more detailed error in the Application Event log is the following:

    EventType clr20r3, P1 moe.exe, P2 0.9.3103.14, P3 48bf0761, P4 microsoft.live.moe.synchronization, P5 0.9.0.0, P6 48bf05d5, P7 26c, P8 27, P9 system.argumentexception, P10 NIL.

    Therefore a couple of questions:

    - Anybody already received this error before?
    - Will Windows Server systems be supported in the future? If so, an idea on when?
    - When I uninstall and re-install Live Mesh, does it remember the folders that I shared?
    - Is it usefull that I submit a bug for the issue that I see on my Windows 2003 server?

    Thanks a lot!

  • Server SKU support is our #1 requested new feature and is definitely on the radar.  I cannot tell you when this will happen though, stay tuned!

    Thanks,

  • I can say from my own experience that Mesh works just fine on Server 2008 x64.  Even remote desktop works.  Sorry that I can't help with 2003.
