Will the new forum allow for upload of images? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I don't see that in the demos.

    The answers forum backend is awkward to upload photos and I'm hoping you aren't moving to that platform?  As the ability to post an image greatly enhances the forum experience.

Answers

  • Yes, upload of images will work the same in the new Forums experience as it does in the existing one.

    No, Answers and MSDN forums do not share the same backend platform.  The new MSDN Forums experience updates the presentation layer, and search infrastructure, but the existing back-end platform remains relatively unchanged.

  • Hello Doug
    What is Administrator?
    What permissions Administrator have? is this above owner?
    I am a Moderator and Answer in several forums, I know what is OWNER too but what is Administrator in that Hierarchic?!?

    * please don't forget to tell me if you want the code to add RTL/LTR buttons to the Editor. i said that i have it since i wrote it several years ago when i used Teleric Editor and i can get it from there if it can be helpful (look at the tread that i opened).

  • You don't have to worry too much about it, none of the community members should have Administrator level access to the forums. The permission level is only granted to internal employees on the support/dev team for the Forums.

  • i am not worry... it is just that i want to know all about all it is only the time that block me to learn everything about everything :-)

    I'm curious and interesting to what happens behind the scenes even if it is not practical :-)

    * owners are Microsoft employees too as i know.

    Following article might answer your questions

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/7078.how-to-find-out-who-the-moderators-are-in-an-msdn-or-technet-forum.aspx#How_to_Find_the_Owner_or_Adminstrator

    OR

    I would put forward that in an unconventional way ;-)

    Consider these forums as Large Active Directory forest with multiple domains.

    Now, IMO, I relate the roles as mentioned below

    Owners = Enterprise Admins

    Administrators = Domain Admins

    Moderators = OU Admins

    Answerers/Editors = Power Users with explicit delegated permissions per OU
