Asked by:
OCS Standard & Mediation Server, upgrade from 180days trial to MSDN

Question
-
Hi,
in august we installed OCS Standard 180days trial.
Now we want to update to MSDN version since now we have access to MSDN. Is there a way to update the current installation? or we need to reinstall and reconfigure the whole thing?
Thanks in advance,
Mick

You should be able to upgrade to MSDN with setup.exe

Have you tried this? How did you go?
We wanted to install the 180 day trial to keep our project on time when the ship date slipped, but Microsoft said it was not possible to upgrade from the 180 day trial to the released product. As a result we held off until GA.
Would be useful to know for the future.

I'm now trying to update Standard Editon Eval to Msdn.
If I use setup.exe it simply tells me that server role is already installed.
If I try with server.msi it asks me if I want to remove the server.
How should I upgrade? If i remove the server but keep the user DB after a reinstall should I reconfigure everything?
Thanks

I've just found a MS document that states that we can't upgrade to or from a MSDN version :-(
Here the link:
I've tried anyway to run the update command:
MsiExec.exe /i Server.msi EVALTOFULL=1 /l*v C:\Upgrade.log
but the program says that the KEY is invalid as it is MSDN.
So, what will i have to reconfigure if i remove the server?
Thanks in advance

You can try this...
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb880167.aspx
But i don't know about the MSDN (link above).
You can install a new OCS, move all your users, change your DNS entries, certificates... i think this is the better option if you don't have how to "upgrade"...
