backing up with external DR. FAT 32 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I tried to back up unto my seagate 160GB external drive and after about 15 minutes or so it tells me it cannot finish for if my drive is FAT32 it can only back up to a limit of 4GB.  What do I need to do so I can completely backup my laptop so I can restore it to a new laptop in the future. Thanks

  • If you are using OneCare backup, you should not get this error because we split the files. One solution is to convert the drive to NTFS, which don't have any file size limitation. (Please make sure you have a copy of files before converting to NTFS)

  • What program are you using for the backup process? As Sundar indicated, OneCare does not have this limitation, so I believe you are off topic for this forum.
